A little summer* creative note from my corner . . .

Here’s a little seasonal creative note from my corner — a quick peek at what I’ve been making, what’s been inspiring me lately, and where this whole pattern-design adventure is headed. Over the past few months, many of you have asked what I’ve been up to, and how I’ve pivoted from a long career in graphic design — so I thought I’d start sharing more regularly with a simple update now and then.

It’s all still a work in progress — but your kind words, questions, and curiosity have meant so much.

I like keeping things simple — each post follows the same rhythm: a glimpse into what I’m creating, how things are growing, and what’s been catching my eye or sparking inspiration.

A look at this seasons create, grow, and inspire.

Fresh from the studio — a peek at what I’ve been working on, from repeat patterns to playful sketches and new ideas taking shape.

August always brings me back to jam-making days with my girls, my dear friend, and her daughter—a tradition filled with music, steam, stained fingertips, and laughter echoing through the kitchen. It's one of those simple rituals that mark the heart of summer 💛. Summer Jam 2025 kicks off mid-month, and with it came a few playful patterns inspired by our annual berry-filled mess. 🍓

More images of the berry making here.

Updates on where things are headed — new designs, product development, and the (sometimes wobbly) path of building something meaningful.

This past year has been a slow and steady stretch of growth—building a body of artwork, uncovering my creative voice (both visually and verbally), and beginning to explore the world of manufacturing, quality, and purpose. It’s a messy process, full of learning curves and unexpected pivots, but also moments of clarity and fulfillment. There’s still a long way to go, but I’m grateful for the chance to keep building something meaningful—one thoughtful step at a time. As I continue to explore surface pattern design as a new direction from my graphic design roots, I can honestly say that creating patterns and seeing them come to life brings a deep sense of enjoyment and possibility.

Looking ahead to fall, my goal is to have artwork available on print-on-demand platforms, as well as Spoonflower for wallpaper and fabric. I’ll share direct links in the next update once those are live. On the manufacturing front, things are still in progress—I'm actively working with a few vendors to refine and shape future offerings.

inspire*

What’s been sparking inspiration lately — art, artists, books, music, textures, colors, and creative details that make me pause and look a little longer.

I recently returned from a quick trip to Maine, and it was just the kind of creative boost I didn’t know I needed. It was lovely to catch up with friends, stay by the sea, and soak in the shifting colors, sounds, and salty air. Maine has this incredible artist energy—so many creatives working across different mediums—it was a wonderful infusion of inspiration. I took loads of photos that I can’t wait to draw from (literally) for future patterns.

I’ve also been revisiting a book I found helpful early on in this journey: The Gap and The Gain by Dan Sullivan. It’s a great reminder to focus on how far you’ve come, rather than how far you still want to go. If you’re interested, here’s the link: gapandgainbook.com. A quick and thoughtful read—or listen.

In case you’re curious—Zaba means frog in Polish (my last name growing up). It’s a lucky symbol and a quiet tribute to my roots as a first generation Polish American.

If you know someone who might enjoy these creative updates, feel free to pass it along — I’d love to grow this little circle 🫶.
